Downtown McLean will look very different in the not so distant future. JBG broke ground on May 25 for construction of The Signet, the walkable, mixed-use development in downtown McLean. This event first new construction in downtown McLean’s in many years.
The project will offer 123 luxury condominium residences and about 5,000 square feet of street-level storefronts and restaurants, transforming an underutilized parking lot into a “vibrant, connect downtown,” according to JBG.
The development plan reflects the desire for a pedestrian-friendly, mixed-use downtown McLean that was articulated by local residents and embodied in the Fairfax County Comprehensive Plan, according to JBG. With gardens, walking paths and a public park, the grounds of The Signet will enhance the pedestrian experience in and around the site.
Located at 6900 Fleetwood Road, The Signet will feature “full-time concierge, high-quality interior design, a spectacular resident lounge, fitness center and other hallmarks of a distinctive residence,” according to JBG. In addition to the on-site amenities, The Signet’s connection to Metro and other public transit will further enhance connectivity in downtown McLean. Franck Lohsen Architects designed the building and Page Architects is the architect of record. Bill Rooney Studios designed the classic interiors. Davis Construction is the general contractor for the development.
What a great step for McLean!
